I actually did watch Gokusen 1 first and I've read part of the manga, but nonetheless season 2 is my favourite because of the Akame chemistry. Japan seems to have agreed with me since the ratings for Gokusen 2 were so unbelievable high. And I like the main group of students better than the one from the first season even though one of them was Oguri Shun.
