I tend to think of it like this: Hayato's the class leader, but Ryu's one step higher on the ladder, so to speak. Or even on the next ladder along.

Hayato's the leader, but Ryuu's the guy the leader listens to... (on the days when they don't fail to communicate, that is).

Little lines... you must have guessed I wouldn't be able to leave that alone, right? Here's how it works.

(Reason I'm doing it in this rather brainless way is that if I type the complete code, it transforms into the sign, which won't be very helpful):

ê = type &# then ecirc; right behind it - in Semagic hold ALT and type 136
ô = type &# then ocirc; right behind it - in Semagic hold ALT and type 147
û = type &# then ucirc; right behind it - in Semagic hold ALT and type 150

If you prefer notation with the bars (I do, but haven't seen it online quite so much as opposed to books): the thing with the &# again, and then for:
ē = 275;
ō = 333;
ū = 363;

No clever Semagic/ALT code. Don't forget the semi-colons.

I... guess the double consonant is the lazy route. ;-)
