Title: Tatta Hitotsu no Koi
Genre: Romance
Episodes: 10
Cast: Kamenashi Kazuya (KAT-TUN), Tanaka Koki (KAT-TUN), Ayase Haruka, Toda Erika, Kaname Jun, Hiraoka Yuta
Plot: Guy from the wrong side of the tracks (with a heart of gold) falls in love with a rich girl (who has an overprotective family). Complications ensue.

Kanzaki Hiroto (Kame) is a serious young man who works far too hard to keep his family's factory going, as his father committed suicide to pay off debts, his mother's a drunkard who goes out with different men every night, and his younger brother is an asthmatic who quite often requires a wheelchair. Hiroto always has money for cigarettes, but that's about it. He has a couple of good friends: Ko (Koki) and Ayuta (Hiraoka). They blag their way into a fancy party for high-flying uni students, which is how Hiroto meets Tsukioka Nao.

Nao (Haruka) is the daughter of a fabulously wealthy guy who owns 'Star Jewellery'. She's naive, trusting, innocent, and has a secret - she had a bone marrow transplant a while back (courtesy of incredibly over-protective big brother) as she suffered from leukaemia. She's been told she will probably never have kids, and she might die in the next three years.

They're not exactly a match made in heaven. Absolutely nobody except their three friends (including Nao's best friend, Yuko (Erika)) and Hiroto's younger brother wants it to work out for them. There's blackmail, bribery, sneaking into buildings late at night, baseball, knife fights, theft, boats, funfairs, torchlight communications, and setbacks at every turn. The series is about the relationship between Hiroto and Nao (and to a lesser extent, those of the people around them), and it has its ups and downs.

A lot of downs, actually. It's very depressing. Music's gorgeous, though, and includes KAT-TUN's 'Bokura no Machi de' as the end theme. It took me forever to force myself through the first 4 eps, then I kind of marathoned the rest and found it was less painful that way. I'm still not sure how I feel about the series. It's very powerful, I think, and heartbreaking, and probably not something I could watch a second time. I sort of feel better for having watched it, though?
